Creative Engagement Center (Former Residence of the Police Director)
Brief Description / Objective:
The project concerns the restoration and reconstruction of the former residence of the Police Director and its transformation into a Creative Engagement Center. The purpose of the project is to provide social services to young people, parents, and vulnerable groups, with an emphasis on the prevention of all forms of addiction.
Expected Benefits / Outcomes:
The Municipality of Larnaca, as part of its actions related to therapeutic substance addiction recovery programs, in collaboration with the Cyprus Anti-Drug Authority, is preparing another key initiative, which is the creation of a “Multipurpose Creative Engagement Center for Youth and Vulnerable Groups” to be housed in the former residence of the Police Director.
The aim of the Multipurpose Center is to support and empower young people and vulnerable groups in the region, cultivate important social skills, teach the values of teamwork, understanding, and promote free thinking and expression. The primary goal of the Municipality of Larnaca is to maximize opportunities for individuals to successfully face the demands of adult life.
Through the promotion of such targeted programs, children and youth can be brought closer to healthy life attitudes, enhance their skills, develop free and balanced personalities, and be provided with tools for adopting a quality and productive life.
The cost of the project amounted to €1,132,000 + VAT, and construction work was completed in March 2025.
The study and design of the project were carried out by the architectural firm Vrahimis & Modinos, following an architectural competition organized by the Municipality of Larnaca.
The project is co-funded by the EU within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021-2027”.
